How Zodified handles your data — cookies, analytics, your GDPR rights, and how to contact us.
Effective: 2026-05-22
1. Who runs this site
Zodified.com is operated by D. Niser as a personal, non-commercial project. The data controller for any personal data processed through this site is the operator. Contact: dniserland@gmail.com.
2. What we collect
We collect the minimum data needed to run the site and understand its usage:
- Session identifier — a random opaque string stored in the cookie "sid". Used only to deduplicate votes (one vote per visitor per page). Never linked to your real identity.
- Helpful / not-helpful votes — when you click a vote button, we store the page path, the vote, and your session identifier. We do not store your IP or browser fingerprint with the vote.
- Aggregate page views — counted per page after bot-filtering. Anonymous.
- Consent state — your cookie-consent choice is stored in the cookie "zc" so we do not ask you again.
- Analytics (only if you consent) — if you accept analytics in the cookie banner, Google Tag Manager loads Google Analytics, which sets its own cookies (typically _ga, _ga_*) to measure aggregate traffic. If you reject, no analytics cookies are set.
We do not collect: real names, email addresses (unless you submit the contact form), payment data, advertising identifiers, or browser fingerprints.
3. Why we collect it
- To make the site work (vote deduplication, remembering your consent).
- To understand which content is helpful and improve it.
- To see aggregate traffic patterns (only with your consent).
We do not sell, rent, or trade any data with third parties. We do not run advertising.
4. Third parties
If you consent to analytics, your browser loads Google Tag Manager (Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC). Google processes some technical data (your IP address, browser type, referrer) to provide analytics. Data may be transferred to the United States; Google relies on Standard Contractual Clauses for that transfer.
You can decline analytics at any time via the cookie banner or by clearing the "zc" cookie. You can also block Google Analytics with browser extensions or your browser settings.
5. The contact form
If you write to us via the contact form, we receive your name, email address, subject, and message. We use them only to reply to you. We do not add your email to any newsletter or share it with anyone. Messages are retained in our mailbox according to standard email practice; you can ask us to delete a specific message at any time.
6. Your rights (GDPR)
If you are in the EU, UK, or another jurisdiction with similar laws, you have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your data
- Restrict or object to processing
- Receive a portable copy of your data
- Complain to your local supervisory authority
To exercise any of these, email dniserland@gmail.com. We respond within 30 days.
7. How long we keep data
- Session and consent cookies: up to one year (or until you clear them).
- Vote records and aggregate counts: kept indefinitely; they are anonymous.
- Google Analytics data: per Google's default retention (commonly 14 months for event-level data).
- Contact-form messages: kept in our mailbox; deletable on request.
8. Children
Zodified is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Security
The site runs over HTTPS. Session cookies are HttpOnly and SameSite=Lax. There is no admin login surface exposed publicly. We do not store passwords because there are no user accounts.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, the "Effective" date at the top will reflect the new version. Material changes will be noted in the site changelog and, where reasonable, surfaced via the banner.
